Tableau Conference '22
Tableau Conference 2022 brought the DataFam back to Las Vegas after pandemic disruptions, with 8,400 in-person attendees, 22,000 on Salesforce+, and 1.5 million social viewers across three days of keynotes, sessions, and hands-on data experiences at Mandalay Bay.
As one of two designers on the event, I helped concept and develop the "Destination Data" theme alongside designer Laken Bailey and writer Stephanie Chacharon. From there I executed across nearly every touchpoint — signage, digital displays, badges, organic social, email, PPT templates, session guides, T-shirt design, virtual photo booth backgrounds, speaker cards, and the Data Night Out evening event branding.

Theme Development:
We developed "Destination Data" as a theme that spoke to both in-person and virtual attendees equally — no matter where you were, TC22 was for you. The visual system was built around viz art, stylized interpretations of Tableau chart types used as graphic elements, layered with constellation patterns and cut-out photography with illustrated clothing. During production we pivoted to simplify the system, reducing viz art layering, removing constellations, and introducing minimal Salesforce foliage to bridge the two brand systems. The result was cleaner and more scalable across the full scope of deliverables. The conference also included Iron Viz, Tableau's flagship live data visualization competition where finalists build and present data stories on stage in real time — we supported with signage and stage lighting. For Data Night Out, the final celebratory event, we brought the constellations back as a fun twist that gave the evening its own energy while staying rooted in the original system.
